Overview
This seminar is intended for counsellors, social workers, psychologists who are registered or certified play therapists and are providing play therapy supervision.
It will be offered in two levels of 2 to 3 hours each. Participants will have the opportunity to take this course individually or in a group, in person or long distance.
Learning Objectives and Content:
Level 1:
Discussion of the ethical responsibility of therapists' self-knowledge and capacity to recognize and deal with issues of transference and counter-transference.
- Description and discussion of the theoretical principles related to the issue of transference and counter-transference, both relational and trauma related.
- Address the challenge of raising play therapist supervisees' awareness of their issues with clarity and sensitivity.
Level 2:
- Explore the benefits of using expressive therapies to help supervisees increase self-awareness and ownership of personal issues that may have arisen in their play therapy sessions.
- Using art therapy, sand play therapy and doll house play to help supervisee explore their issue of transference counter-transference.
- Using Role play in supervision.
As well as taking part in discussions, participants will engage in experiential activities related to a case example to make the learning more concrete.
